Graduation

a video-poem

This project is a video-poem that I wrote, directed, edited and shot to portray the emotional conflicts found in graduation and the departure from college and Colorado. I wanted to intertwine two of my greatest passions into one video to share my growth in different facets of story telling.

I don’t know where the bachelor degrees or the time awaiting will bring me but I sit with an eagerness to learn and embrace unavoidable change.

About me

Hello! I'm Evan Borman and I just graduated from Colorado State University with two Bachelor Degrees in Journalism and Media Communication and English Creative Writing.

I am someone who prides myself on working harder than anyone else in order to follow my passions to the greatest extent. I desire to tell meaningful stories through my experience as a videographer and writer in order to capture the essence of unique experience in the world. My latest job experience as a videographer and director was for Colorado State's Digital Media Platform Ram+. I created and developed a television show called The FOCO Happy Hour that embodies the creative expression in story telling that I long to follow in my career.

I have experience as a director and editor of live production through my position with RamProductions, where we stream live musical performances from the CSU School of Music. I also have developed a multitude of documentaries and written stories centered around music and artistic expression from local artists in the community, from the backyards of punk-rock house shows to the artists studios of painters and sculptors.

In May, I completed two part time positions working in live sports production. I was a camera operator for the Colorado Eagles during the AHL playoffs and worked at RamVision, CSU’s live sports production studio where I shot in-game video of NCAA D1 sports such as Basketball, Softball and Football. The opportunity at RamVision also gave me experience working in game graphics and replays.

I worked as a reporter for the Rocky Mountain Collegian for over a year and produced written stories centered around human and artistic pursuits to foster compassion and growth within the community and larger world. As a reporter I conducted in-depth interviews and translated information by blending ethical standards and my unique perspective to reach audiences.

I care tremendously about everything that I create and am apart of through my studies and experience studying Journalism and Creative Writing. I will always work hard and will put all of my passions into the projects that I work on. I have experience as a teacher assistant at CSU for a philosophy course called, "Encounters With the More Than Human World: Questions for Human Flourishing," and this experienced informed how I could create change through unique expressions in art and writing. Thank you for taking the time to view my portfolio, it means the world to me.
